Clover Time Progression Guide: Milestones From Starting Rolls to Level 100
Our Clover Time progression guide maps the milestones from starting rolls to the level-100 finale — Grimoire Tower, stats, hidden training, the boss ladder, Awakenings — and what gates each step.
Clover Time's progression runs on one spine: lock in your starting Race, Social Class and Trait, ride the level-gated quest chain until it points you to the Grimoire Tower, spend your first Mana Crystal, then feed stat points into whatever your build actually scales from. From there the milestones chain together — Nero's hidden training for double jump, a mana-fed broom for travel, the boss ladder from the Chain Bandit to the level-100 Magna finale, and Awakenings plus boss-map treasure as the long game. This page maps those milestones, the prerequisite that gates each one, and what to prioritize when several systems compete for your time. If you haven't finished your first session yet, the Clover Time beginner guide covers onboarding first.
One caveat up front: Clover Time is early access, and every number below — per-quest level caps, roll pity counts, crafting recipes, prices — is a player-reported snapshot from the beta and launch window rather than official documentation. Treat them as a map and recheck them in game after major updates.
The progression roadmap at a glance
| Milestone | What you actually do | What gates it |
|---|---|---|
| Starting rolls | Roll Race, Social Class and Trait at the priest NPC in the starting area | Nothing — do it before leaving the area, since rolls affect stats and progression |
| Level-gated quest chain | Follow glowing quest NPCs around the starting village; repeatable early quests pad XP | Each quest's level cap — finishing at the cap auto-points to the next mission |
| First Grimoire | Follow the tower icon on the compass to the Grimoire Tower and spend a Mana Crystal | One Mana Crystal per spin (your first is guaranteed) |
| Move unlocks | Allocate stat points in the profile menu | The stat your Grimoire scales from — Power thresholds unlock moves |
| Hidden mobility | Find Nero's training at the skull for double jump; earn a broom and mana for flight | Exploration (Nero isn't on the quest tracker); mana points or potions for flight |
| Boss ladder | Chain Bandit → Macawolf → King of the Wolves → Officer Vera's waves → Magna | Levels, stat investment, and an Awakening for the level-100 Magna quest |
| Endgame loop | Roll toward higher rarities, unlock Awakenings, run boss-map treasure puzzles | Mana Crystals, and the Devil race for Anti-Magic's Awakening |
Early-to-mid progression milestones
The level-gated quest chain
The first stretch of the roadmap almost runs itself. Quest NPCs glow, objectives sit inside a red circle the compass marks, and the early chain hands out its own tools — a hoe/rake for crops, an axe for firewood, a pickaxe for the five-ore mining errand. Tony's potato-thief quest is repeatable and a common early XP bump; Sister Lily's quest opens around level 3, Woodsman Oren's bandit hunt around level 4, and the chain keeps stepping up through Lumberjack Bandits, quarry clears and boar waves.
The mechanic that matters is the chaining rule: complete a quest at its level cap and the game automatically indicates the next mission. If you lose the thread — or turned the tracker off — open the profile's mission list and re-track any level-appropriate quest; it lists entries like Earth Bandit at 25 and Caravan Ride at 30. Between quests, open your profile and spend accumulated stat points, and keep the full quest list handy for what's ahead.
The Grimoire Tower and the Mana Crystal economy
The game introduces the Grimoire system early and steers you toward the tower — no high level is required. One launch-week playthrough rolled at level 5; another walked up around level 20. What you actually need is a Mana Crystal, and your first one is guaranteed: the spawn-in chest chain opens a normal chest into a medium chest, and the medium chest always holds a mana crystal.
Rolling is a gacha. Rarity chances are displayed at the tower and differ between Grimoires, so read them before spending. A pity system backs the rolls — players reported Epic at 35, Legendary at 70 and Mythical at 175 — which means a bad streak still moves you toward a guaranteed tier. Track your rolls, and keep saved crystals to push through a threshold instead of scattering singles.
Two practical habits before you spin:
- Check inventory space. Grimoire storage is limited, and rolling while full forces you to replace or remove one — a real risk during a long crystal-farming session.
- Equip from the inventory, then test the moves in a safe area. Grimoires differ in range, cooldowns, damage types and area-of-effect, and each scales with different stats (more below).
Improving your Grimoire is a loop, not a one-time event. For more spins: fish Golden Marlins for crystal fragments, open chests, finish quests, grab map spawns, craft crystals, redeem codes, and claim index milestones — 5 discovered items pays 1 spin, 40 pays 5 crystals, and 75 pays 15 crystals plus big chests. Before a session, the current codes page can top up spins for free, and our how to get a Grimoire, Mana Crystals, and Grimoire Tower location pages go deeper on each piece. To pick a target before you roll, the Grimoire tier list ranks the options.
Hidden milestones: Nero's training and your broom
Two mobility milestones are easy to miss, and they do different jobs. Nero's training at the giant skull near Rage village is a hidden quest — three timing minigames (sit-ups, a hold-and-release, jumping jacks against a shrinking bar) that pay out double jump plus stat boosts. It does not appear on the quest tracker; playthroughs found it by exploring the skull, roughly between levels 5 and 11. The broom is the opposite: it comes from early quests and chests (several players pulled one from a medium chest), and a broom-training mission teaches flight with a tilt-correcting clicking minigame.
Flight is mana-hungry — boosting drains it even faster — so invest stat points in mana or carry stamina potions before treating the broom as a taxi; one beta tester kept face-planting until he put points into mana. On PC the broom key was reported as H. Where the broom is free flight, Finral the NPC teleports between map areas for a fee, and set-spawn crystals plus the nearest-spawn-on-death setting cut re-walking after deaths. Our broom guide covers the flight system in detail.
Stats, gear, and magic priorities
Where stat points go
Power is the stat behind Grimoire abilities: you gain new moves by upgrading Power in the skill tree, and one player reported needing 70 Power points to unlock a move. The classic mistake is assuming your Grimoire scales off Strength — one playthrough poured early points into Strength for an Anti-Magic build, saw no moves unlock, and had to re-allocate into Power. Check the skill tree's unlock requirement before committing.
The other stats have distinct jobs. Strength drives fist/M1 damage before you own a Grimoire. Sword and Gun scale their respective weapons — the rare Bandit Daggers the level-20 Road Bandits drop, for example, improve with Sword points. Health and Stamina are the picks players describe as impossible to ruin, and Mana supports broom flight. Spend deliberately: the observed builds had no free reset — one player bought a paid Reset Status item (3 for 70 Robux) to fix a mis-allocated build. Our weapons page maps which gear wants which stat.
Stack XP before you grind
XP multipliers stack, and stacking them is the cheapest way to push through every level gate on this roadmap. Titles earned through the in-game Guide/achievements are the big ones — one creator's game-tester title added 50% XP and 50% money, and with race, chest and code bonuses his XP readout reached about +170%. Rolls stack too: in one recording, Human race (+5%), a Merchant class (+3.5%), a Fast Learner trait (+10%) and a shop boost (+75%) all accumulated at once.
Then claim everything that accumulates: daily rewards, playtime rewards (they pay spins), group-member rewards, and any unopened chests sitting in your inventory. Completing every Guide entry and reaching level 50 was reported to award a big chest. One beta-era caveat: the achievements tab was unfinished during testing, so exact achievement and title rewards may have changed — see the achievements page for the current state.
Gathering and crafting feed everything
Materials you collect during quests are not filler. The crafting bench turns them into fishing rods, swords, guns (shotgun, rifle), armor like the iron helmet and heavy iron plate, consumables — and, most importantly for this roadmap, Mana Crystals, crafted from 5 potatoes and 10 crystal fragments. Golden Marlins are the fish that carry those fragments. Potion tiers unlock with levels (one player was still locked out of stamina potion tier 2 at level 13), so crafting keeps pace with your level. The merchant's stock refreshes roughly every 20 minutes, the alchemist sells potions, and caught fish sell for currency. Two guides agree on the habit: keep chopping wood and mining ore while you explore, even before you need them. The crafting, materials and fishing pages break down each loop.
Boss, dungeon, and achievement milestones
The boss ladder
The Chain Bandit is the game's first boss, fought right after your first Grimoire roll — the anime beat, reproduced. He can kill an underprepared level-20 player: one tester got flattened before learning the pattern. Perfect block his skills, and use the dodge — taking hits fills a meter, and triggering the dodge when it's full pulls you out of a combo. He drops chests, gear and crystal fragments, and death is cheap: spawn-point crystals and the nearest-spawn-on-death setting put your retry next to the boss.
The ladder then steps through Macawolf, the King of the Wolves, and Officer Vera's repeatable delinquent waves — each gated by levels and stat investment, Power if you're on a Grimoire build — up to the observed finale: a level-100 quest against Magna, fought in one playthrough using the Awakening transformation. The bosses page lists drops and locations.
Awakenings and boss-map treasure
Awakenings are the stronger-combat goal: some Grimoires unlock one, gaining a whole new move set and stronger abilities. The documented example is Anti-Magic, whose awakening sequence requires the Devil race — which makes race rolls a real prerequisite for that build path, and is why players chasing it treat rerolls as progression rather than cosmetics. Our Awakenings and Anti-Magic guide cover that path.
Boss maps extend the loop after the quest chain. Bosses can drop maps — ranging from rare to legendary by boss strength — and using one reveals coordinates to a chest surrounded by monsters. Defeat the guards to drop the barrier and start a puzzle: collecting key fragments around the chest, or drawing a line to fly the broom through orbs inside a time limit. If the timer runs out, the puzzle resets.
Around the ladder, two systems round things out: Magic Squads group players for boss fights, and the AFK World accrues rewards while you rest — both worth doing between quest pushes (AFK World guide). Dungeons are also part of the game's stated core loop, but specific dungeon locations, entry conditions and rewards haven't been documented by players yet, so don't build your route around them.
When to transition to advanced systems
Don't optimize before you know your playstyle. The guide consensus is to balance first — complete quests, test weapons, gather, learn your Grimoire, explore the map — and only then optimize race, class, trait, equipment and Grimoire around the one style you enjoy. That's the point where progression stops feeling scattered: instead of upgrading random things, every roll, point and craft serves the same build. Once you're there, the advanced targets are higher-rarity rolls, Awakenings, and boss-map treasure runs.
If you want to compress the whole roadmap, levels are the one input every gate shares — quest caps, tower access timing, boss readiness — so our Clover Time leveling guide is the natural next stop.
