Clover Time Leveling Guide: Fastest Verified Ways to Level Up
This Clover Time leveling guide covers verified ways to level up fast at every stage: the repeatable quest loop, the level-gated chain up to the level-100 final quest, the hidden Nero training, and the documented EXP modifiers that stack.
The fastest evidence-backed way to level up in Clover Time is the quest loop: accept a quest from an NPC, complete its objective, press E at the NPC to turn it in for XP, then press E again to take the quest straight back. The starter quest alone carried one player from level 1 to level 2 on its first clear, and repeating it works from the very start of the game. Once you outgrow a quest, the game automatically points you to the next mission for your level — and every documented EXP bonus (race, social class, trait, titles, shop boost) stacks on top of each payout.
One honest caveat up front: no source publishes XP-per-hour or XP-per-minute numbers for Clover Time activities, so this guide does not rank activities by measured speed. Instead, it shows which activities are verifiably proven to grant EXP at your stage, and the stacking bonuses that make every turn-in pay more.
How leveling works
Clover Time pays EXP through quests, and the loop is always the same three beats:
- Accept a quest from its NPC. The starter is Tony in Hage Village: "Drive the potato thieves out" sends you to defeat the bandits at the potato farm.
- Complete the objective — usually defeating a group of enemies, occasionally collecting items. Sister Lily's collect-four-potatoes quest pays XP on turn-in as well, though one recording earned 100 XP plus 25 Yuls from it while another recorded 43 XP, so treat exact quest XP as version-dependent rather than fixed.
- Return and press E at the quest NPC. The XP is paid out immediately and your character levels up. Press E again to re-accept the same quest.
That re-accept step is what makes early leveling fast: two separate gameplay recordings repeat Tony's potato-thief quest back to back — one player went from level 6 to level 7 on a repeat and kept going, calling it an easy way to raise your level.
Progression is level-gated. As one player puts it: "as soon as you complete the quest and reach the level cap for it, you get sent to another quest." The game automatically indicates your next mission and its location, the tracker arrow updates, and the next quest NPC glows with a red marker. If you lose the thread — or disabled the tracker — open Profile → Missions and NPCs: it lists missions with their level requirements (for example, entrance to the tower, level 15 and Earth bandit, level 25), and clicking one pins it on the map. Any quest can be tracked this way and shows its level, like the level-30 Caravan Ride.
Best verified leveling activities by stage
Every entry below is drawn from gameplay recordings with the level results shown on screen:
| Stage (observed) | Activity | Verified result |
|---|---|---|
| Levels 1–3 | Tony's potato-thief bandits, Hage Village (repeatable) | Level 1→2 on the first clear; repeats carried players to 3 and from 6→7 |
| Levels 2–4 | Sister Lily's collect-four-potatoes quest | Direct XP payout on turn-in (recordings disagree: 43 XP vs 100 XP + 25 Yuls) |
| Levels 3–5 | Woodsman Oren — Beat Lumberjack Bandits | Reached level 5 |
| Levels 5–8 | Clear the bandit camp at the quarry forest edge | Level 8, "almost level 10" |
| Levels 8–13 | Firewood quest (paid two levels), mining missions, forest boars, hidden Nero training | Levels 11 and 13 observed |
| Mid-game | Chain Bandit boss (granted two levels), Macawolf / king of the wolves, Officer Vera's delinquents (repeated), entrance to the tower (level 15), Earth bandit (level 25), Caravan Ride (level 30) | Mission list and tracker show each mission's level |
| Endgame | Final quest against Magna | Observed at level 100 |
Two conditions worth knowing: repeats are proven for the early Tony quest and observed for Officer Vera's delinquents mid-game, but unlimited refresh of any specific mid- or late-game quest is not proven. And because recorded quest XP already differs between early-access versions, recheck payouts after progression tuning rather than trusting any fixed number. The full quest list by level lives on our Clover Time quests page.
The hidden Nero training milestone
Near Rage village, at the Skull, Nero offers a training quest that does not appear if you rely only on the quest tracker — you learn it exists by exploring the area or spotting it in the quests list. One guide places it around level 5; another player found it after level 10, when the main chain pointed elsewhere.
It runs three timing minigames — sit-ups, crunches and jumping jacks — where you press or hold space as the moving bar reaches the green zone. Failing a prompt can cost a heart and reset the attempt. The reward is double jump plus additional boosts (one player finished at level 11 and picked up both).
Treat this as a milestone, not an EXP source: the boost types aren't specified in the recordings, but permanent double jump shortens every future quest run, so grab it the first time you're in the area.
EXP modifiers and how they stack
Every EXP bonus in Clover Time stacks additively — the percentages simply add up. These are the documented values:
| Modifier | Documented EXP bonus | How you get it |
|---|---|---|
| Race — Human (common, 94.70% roll) | +5% | Rolled with spins at the church priest |
| Race — Human-Dwarf (legendary, 1.43%) | +15% | Race Rerolls |
| Race — Elf (mythic, 0.56%) | +25% | Race Rerolls |
| Race — Devil (0.10% roll) | +40% | Race Rerolls |
| Social class | Peasant +1%, Commoner +2.5%, Merchant +3.5%, Noble +6%, Royal +12.5%, Sovereign +17.5% | Class rolls |
| Trait — Fast Learner | +10% (plus 5% mana regen) | Trait rolls |
| Trait — Chosen One | +7.5% (plus a health/stamina/mana package) | Trait rolls |
| Group-role titles (Tester, Owner, Developer, Beta Tester, Tester Leader) | +50% each; Director +40%; Manager/Administrator +30%; Staff/Early Access +20% | Granted by Clover Time group roles — not earnable through normal play |
| Spend achievements (Benefactor / Magnate / Clover Royalty) | +20% / +30% / +50% | Spent 1,500 / 5,000 / 10,000 Robux |
| Mythic Collector | +20% | Draw 30 mythic grimoires from the tower |
| Shop boost | +75% for 3 hours | 79 Robux in the shop at the time of these recordings |
The stacking is visible on the HUD: after buying the shop boost, one player's corner display listed Human +5%, Merchant +3.5%, Fast Learner +10% and the shop's +75% all at once — "é acumulativo" (it's cumulative). Another player with an activated Tester title (+50% EXP) on top of race and chest/code bonuses read a combined +170% XP. Check your own standing total under Profile → Statistics, and activate any title you're entitled to — it does nothing until switched on.
Practical reading of that table:
- Devil's +40% is the standout EXP race — the races tier list calls it the best option for farming EXP — but at a 0.10% roll it's a lottery ticket, not a plan. Fast Learner's +10% is the realistic early win the same tier list highlights for leveling faster. Compare the odds on our Clover Time races tier list, social classes tier list and traits tier list.
- Don't count on a Dwarf EXP bonus. The races wiki table and the races video list no EXP for Dwarf, while one written tier list shows +15% — the same figure the wiki assigns to Human-Dwarf. Verify in game before relying on it.
- Race Rerolls come from the in-game shop, boss drops or codes; the reroll process itself is covered in our Clover Time rerolls guide, and active codes that hand out rerolls are kept on the Clover Time codes page.
Level-linked milestones worth planning around
- Level 50 unlocks the Seasoned Mage achievement (+10% Yuls), and one guide reports a big chest for reaching it. It also advises claiming the daily, playtime and group rewards along the way — they pay out spins and extras that feed your rerolls.
- Level 100 unlocks Grand Magus (+20% Yuls and +10% EXP) — the one level milestone that feeds directly back into leveling speed.
- Crafting tiers open with your level: a level-13 player had not yet unlocked stamina potion level 2. Higher potion tiers keep quest runs moving, so leveling unlocks the tools that make leveling easier. Details are on our Clover Time crafting page.
- The mission chain itself is level-gated — the mission list's level entries (15, 25, 30) tell you what the game will route you to next. Full achievement bonuses are tabulated on our Clover Time achievements page.
Efficiency mistakes to avoid
- Planning around fixed quest XP. The same early potato quest recorded 43 XP in one run and 100 XP + 25 Yuls in another; values and boost prices can shift between versions, so watch your level-ups rather than a remembered number.
- Chasing Devil rolls. A 0.10% chance means most players level far faster by stacking guaranteed bonuses than by rerolling for the top race.
- Skipping exploration near Rage village. Nero's training never surfaces on the tracker alone — miss it and you'll walk everywhere without double jump.
- Leaving bonuses inactive. Titles only count once activated, and the HUD total shows whether your race, class, trait, title and shop boosts are all adding up.
- Trusting the tracker exclusively. When it points somewhere unhelpful, Profile → Missions and NPCs lets you pick any level-appropriate mission manually and pin it to the map.
Once your quest loop is running and your bonuses are stacked, the next job is the wider route — grimoires, awakenings and endgame goals — laid out in our Clover Time progression guide.
