Clover Time Tier List: Best Races, Social Classes, Traits & Grimoires

Compare Clover Time's four progression systems at a glance: top Race, Social Class, Trait and Grimoire picks with their real bonuses, value picks to keep from early rolls, and which dedicated tier list to read next.

Clover Time splits character power across four separate roll systems — Races, Social Classes, Traits, and Grimoires — and each list is ranked on its own criteria. The short version: Devil is the Race to keep if you ever roll it, Sovereign (with Royal close behind) tops Social Classes, Chosen One and Mana Sensitive are the Trait targets, and Anti Magic and Poison are the strongest Grimoires for PvE, followed by Ice, Explosive Flame, and Battle Lightning. You don't need any of them to start playing — rarer rolls are generally stronger, but a workable set of early picks carries you a long way while you bank spins toward the top options.

How this tier list is organized

Races, Social Classes, and Traits are the three spins you get at the roll NPC's house right at spawn. Their bonuses stack together into your total stats — a race's EXP boost, a class's Yuls (money) boost, and a trait's mana regen all apply at once — so each system is ranked within its own list, never against the others.

  • Races, Social Classes, and Traits are passive stat bonuses, ranked mostly by what they give. Rarer options generally have stronger bonuses, though some lower-tier traits stay useful in the early game.
  • Grimoires are the exception. Your Grimoire is your main magic source: you unlock more of its abilities by upgrading the Power stat in your skill tree, and it is judged by its moveset, damage, and PvE usefulness — not rarity alone. Ice proves the point: it's only Uncommon yet ranks above books several rarities higher.

Every placement below comes from community guides and gameplay from the beta and launch window (the main cross-system tier article was published October 2, 2026) — there are no official developer rankings. Recheck these lists after balance changes, new content, or reroll-system changes.

Devil is the only option with no weak spot: survivability, mana, regeneration, and the biggest EXP boost all at once, which is why the consensus is to keep it if you roll it. Launch footage also ties Devil to a special Anti Magic transformation/awakening, so Anti Magic players have an extra reason to chase it (see the awakenings guide). Elf is the pick for bigger, faster-recovering mana pools; Human-Dwarf covers regen, mana, and EXP at once if Elf doesn't come; Dwarf is solid beginner sustain but lacks any EXP bonus; Human's small bonuses fall behind quickly.

Social Classes at a glance

TierClassBonusesBest for
SSovereign20% HP Regen, 20% Stamina Regen, 17.5% Mana, 30% Mana Regen, 17.5% EXP, 22.5% YulsMost complete farming class
SRoyal12.5% HP Regen, 12.5% Stamina Regen, 12.5% Mana, 20% Mana Regen, 12.5% EXP, 15% YulsAll-round second best
ANoble7.5% HP Regen, 7.5% Stamina Regen, 6% Mana, 12.5% Mana Regen, 6% EXP, 7.5% YulsBalanced sustain, mana, EXP, income
AMerchant2.5% Mana, 7.5% Mana Regen, 3.5% EXP, 10% YulsFarming money early
BCommoner2.5% Mana, 5% Mana Regen, 2.5% EXP, 2.5% YulsSlightly better early progression
CPeasant1% Mana, 2.5% Mana Regen, 1% EXP, 1% YulsPlaceholder

The ladder here is about how many useful bonuses stack at once: Sovereign boosts regeneration, mana, EXP, and Yuls simultaneously, making it the top class for farming-focused progression, and Royal is a huge all-round upgrade in the same shape. Merchant deserves a special mention — its 10% Yuls boost makes it a solid, easy-to-get pick while you're building up money, and Noble is the balanced mix if that's what your roll gives you.

Traits at a glance

The trait spin adds a third passive on top of race and class. Two S-tier targets:

  • Chosen One — +10% Health, +25% HP Regen, +10% Stamina, +25% Stamina Regen, +10% Mana, +25% Mana Regen, +7.5% EXP. It improves several important stats at once with no wasted bonus — the closest thing to a universally good trait.
  • Mana Sensitive — +10% HP Regen, +12.5% Mana, +35% Mana Regen. The huge mana regen makes it the trait for spell-heavy builds that want to spam abilities.

Useful alternatives depending on your build: High Mana, Strong Body, Coin Eye, and Fast Learner (its in-game text reads "learns from every battle more efficiently — 5% mana regen and 10% XP regen"). One naming caution: sources variously say "Quick Learner" or "Fast Learner," so don't treat those as two confirmed separate traits. Current guides only cover the traits named here — check the effect text on your own roll screen for anything else you land.

The full trait ranking is on the Clover Time traits tier list.

Grimoires at a glance

Grimoire rank is decided by the kit, not the rarity color. The spins happen at the Grimoire Tower and cost mana crystals, each book has its own odds shown at the tower (Anti Magic, the mythic pick, read roughly 1 in 179 at launch), and you can only equip one grimoire plus keep one more stored — a third roll forces you to replace one, so it pays to know this ranking before you spin.

  • Top PvE — Anti Magic, Poison. Anti Magic has a strong variety of moves and performs extremely well for PvE damage (early players called it "a little busted" — a play impression, not a damage test). Poison earns the same tier on move variety and PvE performance, with continuous poison damage and a controllable clone noted against bosses.
  • Strong — Ice, Explosive Flame, Battle Lightning. Ice is the clearest case of kit beating rarity: an Uncommon book with large-hitting ice spikes, huge range, and an Absolute Zero freeze. Explosive Flame is the epic fire kit with more skills than the common Fire book, and Legendary Battle Lightning boosts your basic M1 attacks into large AOEs.
  • Situational — Chain, Water, Snow, Earth, Fire. These can still help you progress, but their damage combinations are generally less optimal. Common Fire (only two moves) is the clearest reroll candidate — don't confuse it with the separate, mid-tier Explosive Flame. Chain splits opinion: this tier article places it in the lower band, while showcase players rated Chain Stun, which traps an enemy so it can't attack, among the best kits they tried. Those are personal impressions, so treat a Chain roll as usable for progression rather than an automatic reroll.

How to choose based on playstyle

  • Spell-heavy mana builds: Elf + Mana Sensitive, ideally with a strong offensive grimoire, and put stat points into Power to unlock more grimoire abilities.
  • Money farming: Merchant is the easy early pick for its 10% Yuls boost; upgrade to Sovereign or Royal when rolled, with Coin Eye as an alternative income trait.
  • Fast leveling: Devil's 40% EXP is the standout; note Dwarf trades that away for pure sustain.
  • PvE damage: Anti Magic or Poison first, then Ice, Explosive Flame, or Battle Lightning.

Whichever direction you pick, don't chase S-tier immediately. Keep a useful setup — an A-tier race, Noble or Merchant, any named trait — while you progress, and claim your playtime rewards, because they grant spins. Once you've banked enough rolls, work toward the target combination one slot at a time; one creator's end-goal setup is Devil race, Sovereign class, and Chosen One trait. When you're ready to spend them, the Clover Time rerolls guide covers how rolling and rerolling work.
