Clover Time Races Tier List: Best Race to Keep or Reroll

Compare all five Clover Time races — Devil, Elf, Human-Dwarf, Dwarf and Human — with verified rarities and passive bonuses, plus concrete keep-or-reroll rules for your spins.

Quick answer: which race to keep

Keep Devil outright. Keep Elf or Human-Dwarf. Dwarf is fine early. Reroll Human. That is the whole decision in one line, and the rest of this page gives you the verified numbers and the exact rules behind it so you can judge your own roll. If you have not rolled yet, races are changed with Race Rerolls — spins you get from the shop, codes, bosses and playtime rewards.

How these tiers were decided

Races in Clover Time are passive stat modifiers: each one raises stats like Max Health, Max Mana, Health/Stamina/Mana Regen and EXP Gain. The tiers below compare those stat packages side by side — they are not measured leveling-speed or DPS tests. The numbers come from the in-game roll data recorded on the game's wiki, cross-checked against two dedicated tier-list sources that quote identical values; where sources disagree (Devil's exact roll chance), that is flagged in the table.

One practical rule of thumb falls out of the data: the rarer options generally give stronger bonuses, but you do not need to chase an S-tier race immediately — some A-tier options carry you comfortably through progression.

Devil's chance is the one number with a source disagreement: the wiki snapshot lists 0.10% while one gameplay video of the roll interface shows 0.12%. Either way it is by far the rarest race, and balance updates can shift these values, so treat the percentages as current snapshots rather than permanent odds.

Why each race is placed where it is

S — Devil. The strongest all-around package, and the gap to A-tier is real. It does not specialize in one thing: top-tier survivability (20% Health plus 80% regen across Health, Stamina and Mana), the biggest mana pool (45% Mana, +250 flat), and the biggest EXP boost (40%) all at once. That combination makes it the best race for farming EXP and simply the strongest at every stage of the game.

A — Elf. The mana race. 30% Mana, +120 flat Mana and 60% Mana Regen make it especially strong for builds that care about a bigger pool and fast recovery, and 25% EXP plus 30% HP/Stamina regen keeps it useful everywhere else. If you rely on spells frequently, players find it extremely comfortable to play, and it is one of the better picks if you do not have Devil.

A — Human-Dwarf. The balance pick: 30% Health Regen, 40% Stamina Regen, 15% Mana, 40% Mana Regen and 15% EXP give you regeneration, mana and progression bonuses at the same time. It trails Elf on raw mana and EXP, but it is a good alternative if you don't have an Elf — comfortably good enough to play long-term.

B — Dwarf. A much better beginner race than Human: 25% Health Regen, 25% Stamina Regen, +55 Mana and 15% Mana Regen add up to noticeably more sustain early. The big downside is that it comes with no EXP boost, which is why it is a stepping stone rather than an endgoal roll.

C — Human. The default. Four flat 5% passives are not nothing — the 5% EXP is nice to have — but every other race beats it comfortably, so Human falls behind once you compare it with the stronger options.

Best race by player goal

  • Farming EXP and leveling fast: Devil. The 40% EXP boost rides on top of huge regen and mana, making it the best EXP-farming race; Elf (25% EXP) and Human-Dwarf (15% EXP) are the next-best EXP picks, and Dwarf has none. Race EXP also stacks with Social Class and Title EXP — one creator's stat screen credits his race, class and title combined with roughly half of his total EXP bonus, so a good race compounds with those other systems.
  • Spell-heavy builds that cast constantly: Elf. The 30% Mana / +120 Mana / 60% Mana Regen package is the biggest mana pool in the game, and constant ability use is where it feels most comfortable.
  • Anti-magic and awakening plans: Devil. Creators report the Devil Clan unlocks a special transformation when paired with anti-magic, another calls anti-magic plus Devil a really good combination, and one guide says the awakening requires the Devil race (its stated best combo: Devil + Sovereign + Chosen One). The awakening mechanic itself is covered on the anti-magic guide and awakenings pages.
  • Brand-new accounts: Dwarf. Starting characters get three spins, and most rolls land Human (94.70%), so a Dwarf roll is a genuinely good early result — noticeably more sustain than Human even without EXP. Spend the starting spins, keep anything Epic or better for now, and aim higher later.

When to keep or reroll

Work down this list from your current race:

  1. Devil — keep it, full stop. Survivability, mana, regeneration and EXP in one package makes it the best race in the game; do not reroll it for anything.
  2. Elf or Human-Dwarf — keep and play. A-tier carries you comfortably through progression, and chasing Devil's sub-0.6% odds with limited spins is rarely worth it.
  3. Anything better than Epic — worth keeping. One guide's threshold: aim for better than Epic, and if you get Mythic or Legendary, keep it. Good races are hard to roll and can take several attempts.
  4. Dwarf — serviceable early, reroll later. Strong regeneration and decent overall stats make it a fine stepping stone, but with no EXP boost it is not an endgoal roll. Keep it while it carries your early game, then reroll when you have spins to aim for Legendary or better.
  5. Human — reroll when you have better options available. The 5% EXP is useful, but the overall stats are too low to keep long-term.

If you rolled Devil, Elf or Human-Dwarf, you are done — go play. If not, the practical move is to stock spins rather than settle: every reroll source (shop, codes, boss drops, playtime rewards) is covered in the rerolls guide, and redeeming active codes from the codes page is the fastest free source.

One warning about old race lists

The race pool changed during development: pre-launch footage shows only Human, Dwarf, Half-Dwarf and Elf with Elf as the rarest, while every current source includes Devil at the top. If a video or guide predates Devil, its "rarest race" advice is outdated. For a neutral reference on how races work — rather than which to keep — see the races overview; Social Class and Trait choices are ranked separately on their own tier list pages, since they stack with your race rather than replace it.
