Clover Time Quests: How to Choose the Right Quest for Your Goal
Pick the right Clover Time quest for your current goal: every quest verified in recorded runs with its start point, which quests demonstrably repeat for leveling, and the rewards and material drops those runs document.
The right Clover Time quest depends on what you need right now, and the game gives you three ways to point yourself at it: the mission tracker arrow for the level-appropriate main line, the glowing quest NPC in the world, and the profile quest list that lets you track any quest for your level. Recorded runs of the game document the quest set below — where each one starts, which ones demonstrably repeat, and what they pay.
Pick by goal:
- Fast early levels — follow the tracker's main line, and when you want to grind, repeat the quests recorded runs demonstrably re-take: Tony's bandit fight, the farmer's boars, Officer Vera's delinquents, and the potato collection.
- A movement unlock — detour to Nero's hidden training quest for the double jump; the tracker will never send you there.
- Crafting materials — use the quest/NPC menu as a drop directory: village bandits drop potatoes, Demon Skull bandits drop stone ores, the mana-wolf quest yields fangs, boars drop hides.
- Chests and grimoire spins — quests are a documented source of chests and mana crystals, the currency you spend to spin for grimoires at the tower.
How to Find and Track Any Quest
- The mission tracker sits top-left and can be toggled in the main menu. When enabled, an arrow points to the next mission for your level. Completing a quest and reaching its level cap automatically moves the indicator to the next quest.
- The current quest NPC glows and is marked by a red circle; a golden door with an arrow marks the quest location. If you can fly a broom (H on PC, up on the D-pad for console), you can zoom straight to it.
- Menu → profile → quests and NPCs lets you manually choose and track any quest for your level. The list shows level labels — recorded examples include "Earth bandit, level 25" and "entrance to the tower, level 15" — and clicking an entry puts the target on your map. Tracking works on any mission and shows its level and distance; one run tracked the Caravan Raid at level 30 roughly 2,000 m away.
- The same menu shows NPC locations for material drops (stone ores, potatoes), which matters when a crafting goal needs a specific quest NPC.
- Some side quests never appear on the tracker — Nero's training is the documented case — so you find them by exploring or by spotting them in the quest list.
In short: the tracker gives you the level-appropriate main line, the menu list lets you skip ahead or back to a quest matching your level, and hidden quests reward exploration. If you are still in the first hours of the game, the Clover Time beginner guide covers what to set up before you chase the quest line.
The Verified Quest List and Where Each One Starts
This is the quest set recorded gameplay runs document, from the Hage village chain through the level-100 finale. Several runs were recorded on the beta build, and one creator warns the game was still in development, so treat the order below as the recorded order rather than a guaranteed live order — the tracker and the menu list are the authority for what's available at your level.
| Quest | Start | Objective | Documented level note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drive the potato thieves out | Tony, an NPC quest in Hage village | Beat the bandits robbing the potato farm; the reward chest can contain the magic broom | Offered right after the grimoire-tower tutorial in two runs |
| Collect four potatoes | Sister Lily (the nun) by the church in Hage/Ragi village | Harvest 4 potatoes with the rake (press E on grown plants) and return to her | One guide places it from level 3; other runs show it as the very first mission |
| Beat Lumberjack Bandits | Woodsman Oren | Defeat the lumberjack bandits | Reached around level 4–5 |
| Collect firewood (optional) | Optional quest NPC near Oren; an axe is granted | Chop trees and collect five logs | Optional side quest at level 4 |
| Mine ore | Next quest NPC in the early chain; a pickaxe is granted | Mine five ores (press E on the rock) | Early chain, before extended combat |
| Defeat the forest boars | Farmer | Kill the forest boars (six in one run) | Repeatable grind quest |
| Clear the bandit camp at the forest edge | Follow-up quest after Oren's | Defeat the quarry bandit group | Around level 8–10 |
| Scout Rowan's horde | Scout Rowan | Defeat a horde of enemies | Around level 15 |
| Defeat the Chain Bandit | Quest NPC before the grimoire tower | First boss fight | Around level 20 |
| Mana wolf quest | Quest NPC, or menu → profile → quest/NPC list | Defeat the wolves, then the king of the wolves | Mid progression; yields wolf fangs |
| Defeat the delinquents | Officer Vera | Beat the delinquents | Stated to be repeated |
| Nero's training (hidden) | Nero near the skull in the Demon Skull area | Pass three training minigames | Level 5 per one guide; found while exploring around level 10 in another run |
| Caravan Raid | Menu → profile → quest/NPC list | Go to the marked location and defeat the enemies | Level 30 |
| Magna showdown | Final quest NPC | Boss fight using awakening | The last quest, reached at level 100 |
One ordering conflict is worth knowing before you start: two runs show Tony's bandit fight as the first quest, while three other runs show Sister Lily's potato collection first, and one guide notes the nun's quest opens from level 3. Either way, the potato content comes early — and Lily hands you the rake you need for it. Fully grown plants can be harvested with E; unripe ones can't.
Which Quests Repeat (and How to Re-Take Them)
Repeating a quest is simple: after finishing, walk back to the quest NPC and press E to accept the same quest again. Recorded runs demonstrate exactly this loop:
- Tony's potato-thief quest was repeated back-to-back specifically to level up, described as an easy quest to farm — one player chained it from level 1 into the level 3–4 range.
- The bandit quest was re-accepted over and over in another recorded run as the way to keep raising level.
- The farmer's boar quest — the player notes "you got to repeat."
- Officer Vera's delinquents quest — the run expects to be made to repeat it.
- The potato collection was repeated until the next quest unlocked.
These specific quests are the demonstrated repeatablers. No source states a general rule for how often every quest refreshes or whether repeats are capped, so don't assume unlimited loops game-wide — but for early leveling, re-accepting the bandit or potato quests at their NPC is a proven route. If you want a dedicated plan around grinding, the Clover Time leveling guide goes deeper.
Documented Rewards
Quest payouts are only partially documented, and the figures below come from single recorded runs — treat them as examples, not fixed rates:
- XP and money: the potato quest paid 100 XP and 25 Yen in one run, and 43 XP in another (the sources disagree). The wood-collection quest once paid enough XP for two levels at once.
- Chests: the first quest awards a medium chest, which opened into a magic broom in two recorded runs. Other sources describe the broom differently — a beta run unlocks it through a flying training minigame, and a launch guide frames it as earned simply by doing missions. Expect a broom early from questing; don't count on one exact route. The Chain Bandit boss paid a normal chest for the kill.
- Mana crystals: quests are a stated source of mana crystals — the currency spent to spin for grimoires at the tower — and Nero's training awards one directly. Before grinding, it's also worth claiming active codes, which have been shown granting spins and XP boosters; the Clover Time codes page keeps the current list.
- Guide and achievement tasks: completing guide objectives through level 50 is described as paying a big chest, with finishing all missions framed as the way to it.
If your goal is a better grimoire rather than raw levels, questing for crystals and then spinning is the loop — the Clover Time how-to-get-grimoire guide covers the spin system itself.
Quests That Pay in Crafting Materials
When your goal is materials rather than XP, the quest/NPC menu doubles as a farm directory because it shows which NPCs drop what:
- Haj village bandits, right in front of the church, drop two potatoes each — and five potatoes plus 10 fragments craft a mana crystal at the crafting table.
- Demon Skull bandits drop stone ores.
- The mana-wolf quest (menu → quest/NPC → select the manowolf quest, then accept at the marked location) yields wolf fangs and mana wolf fangs from the wolves and their king.
- The Caravan Raid (menu → profile → quest/NPC → caravan raid, then accept at the marked location) is a documented step for stockpiling smelting and crafting supplies.
- Forest boars drop hides, a material recorded for future armor or clothing crafting.
- Road Bandits in the level-20 area can drop the rare Bandit Daggers sword, with Rapid Slash and Dagger Teleport skills.
- The Chain Bandit boss can drop a scythe, Chain Hand, a chest, his outfit, and fragments.
- Tool-granting quests: Lily gives the rake, the lumberjack gives the axe, and selecting "stone of pip" in the menu's NPC/quest list leads to Pip for the pickaxe. The Clover Time how-to-get-tools page details each route.

Nero's Training: The Hidden Quest Worth a Detour
Nero's training is the key early side quest because it awards something the main chain does not: the double jump. It's given by Nero near the skull in the Demon Skull area, and it never shows up on the quest tracker — you find it by exploring that area or by spotting it in the quest list. One guide places it right at level 5; another run only encountered it while exploring around level 10.
The quest is three training minigames:
- Push-ups/sit-ups — press when the moving bar reaches the green zone, about six presses.
- Hold-and-release bars — hold the key and release the moment the bar hits green.
- Jumping jacks — about ten reps, but the green bar shrinks as you go, you have limited lives, and two misses reset the attempt.
Passing grants health and stamina boosts, the double jump unlock, and a mana crystal. Since the tracker will never point at it, this is the one early detour you have to choose for yourself.
Quest Troubleshooting
- You don't know where to go: enable the mission tracker in the main menu so the arrow appears, or open menu → profile → quests and NPCs and click a quest to place it on the map with its level and distance.
- A quest never appears on the tracker: hidden side quests like Nero's training don't use it — explore the Demon Skull skull area or scan the quest list.
- The boss keeps killing you: the Chain Bandit downed a recorded player who had been two-shotting normal enemies, so over-level first by repeating an easy quest, and use blocking and dodging — both exist and matter. The Clover Time bosses reference covers the boss fights in detail.
- Your quest order doesn't match a guide: several guides were recorded on the beta build, and the live game may order or reward quests differently — trust the tracker and menu list for your level.
- Quest names look wrong: captions transcribe gameplay audio, so the same quest appears as "Macawolf" and "manowolf" — that's the mana-wolf quest either way.
Once your questing has stocked you with a broom, mana crystals and materials, the next decision is where to take your character — the Clover Time progression guide puts this quest line in context with grimoires, races, and social classes.
