How to Get Asta in Clover Time (Anti-Magic Grimoire, Power Build & Devil Awakening)
Getting Asta in Clover Time means the mythic Anti-Magic grimoire plus the Devil-race awakening. Learn the crystal mana loop, tower spin odds and pity, Power-stat move unlocks, and what the 0.12% Devil race unlocks.
In Clover Time, "getting Asta" is not a single drop or purchase — it's a four-part build. It means rolling the mythic Anti-Magic grimoire at the grimoire tower, picking up Asta's sword and look as you level Anti-Magic, unlocking his moves by spending stat points in Power, and — only if you also roll the 0.12% Devil race — gaining the Anti-Magic Grimoire awakening, the winged transformation that endgame clips present as "Asta in Clover Time."
Asta is also literally the first NPC you meet: in the starting tutorial he appears beside you, comments on the crystal mana you find on day one, and tells you to spin it at the tower. That pointer is exactly where the build begins.

The path at a glance
- Stock up on crystal mana — one crystal funds one tower spin.
- Spin at the grimoire tower until you land Anti-Magic, the mythic of 10 grimoires.
- Level with quests and put every stat point into Power to unlock Anti-Magic's moves.
- Roll the Devil race at the church priest in Hage Village — this is the confirmed prerequisite for the awakening.
- With grimoire + Devil race together, the awakening transformation becomes available.
Step 1: Farm crystal mana
One crystal mana equals one spin, so your first job is keeping a supply. The verified sources:
| Source | What it gives | How |
|---|---|---|
| Tutorial | 1 crystal mana | Asta's opening tutorial sequence grants your first crystal |
| Chests | Crystal mana (random) | Chests open into potatoes, ore, potions, and sometimes a crystal — one creator pulled one at 0.38% |
| Crafting | 1 crystal mana | Combine 5 potatoes + 10 crystal mana fragments at the crafting table to the right of the set-spawn crystal in Hage Village |
| Haj Bandits | 2 potatoes each | Kill the bandits in front of the Hage Village church, then craft |
| Map spawns | Crystals and fragments | These spawn around the map; the mana crystal notifier item (a shop pack) pings you when one appears |
| Playtime rewards | Spins and other rewards | Claim them from the rewards menu as they accrue |
If you're unsure where to start, the Tor Archivist NPC at the tower explains in-game how crystal mana is obtained. For the full currency breakdown, see our Clover Time mana crystals page, and check the Clover Time codes list if you want to sweep up any current freebies alongside playtime rewards.
Step 2: Spin at the grimoire tower
The tower sits ahead of your spawn point. Each spin consumes one crystal mana and rolls one of 10 grimoires; Anti-Magic is the mythic. The rarity board in launch-window footage lists Anti-Magic at 1 in 179 per spin, and the tower displays a pity system of 175 for mythical, meant to cap how long the chase can run.
A winning spin plays a cutscene of grimoires circling overhead, then the book appears in your hand. You'll know Anti-Magic landed because the UI's "Magic" bar reads anti-magic instead, and flight switches to Asta's sword — press Shift to boost flight speed, and note that flying consumes the anti-magic bar.
One caution on the numbers: that footage comes from the game's early-access launch window, with some creators recording on pre-release test builds, so treat the 1-in-179 odds and 175 pity as the values those players saw rather than guaranteed live figures. Roll the tower yourself and read the rarity board — and if you land a different grimoire you like better, our how to get a grimoire guide covers the spin system in general. The tower's exact position is on the grimoire tower location page.
Step 3: Level Anti-Magic and spend points in Power
From level 1, run quests while holding the grimoire — the first starter quest immediately grants your first move, Anti-Magic Cut. Then open Profile → Stats and put your points into Power: Anti-Magic scales off Power, not Strength. One launch-week creator dumped his early points into Strength on the guess that a sword kit used Strength, realized the mistake around level 8–10, and had to re-earn the progress that Power would have bought him sooner.
Continued Power investment unlocks Rush Divider (the second move), then Dual Spin around level 20, which can be held. Showcase footage also shows a counter and a death-slash move in the base kit. As a bonus, early Anti-Magic leveling is when the Asta outfit and hair-color change appear — one creator had both by roughly level 3–5, though the clips never show a specific quest or shop behind the outfit, so watch for it as you level rather than expecting a fixed vendor. Once you own the kit, the Clover Time anti magic guide is the place to go deeper on the moves themselves.
Step 4: Roll the Devil race
The transformation layer requires the Devil race — three separate creators confirm it from both ends of the build: "we can get a special transformation with this if we add it to anti-magic," "I actually need the devil race to use the awakening," and "you need the devil form for the devil transformation."
Races are spun at the church priest in Hage Village, whose pool is Human, Dwarf, Half-Dwarf, Elf, and Devil at a listed 0.12%. Race spins come from playtime rewards and gameplay claims, so bank them before rolling in bulk; the Clover Time rerolls page covers the reroll loop in more depth. One creator chasing the full Asta build also recommends the combo of Devil race + Sovereign social class + Chosen One trait as the strongest pairing.
The Anti-Magic Grimoire awakening
With Devil race and Anti-Magic grimoire on the same character, the awakening transforms you: the shirt comes off and the form gains wings and a tail. It runs on a timer that drains anti-magic mana very quickly — one tester described it as "draining like water" — and has to recharge before it can be used again. While transformed, a separate awakened move set appears, including Black Divider (a demonic dash that stacks), a flight dash, a tornado, Grand Slicer, Demonic Persecution, Demonic Advance, and an ultimate.
Be aware of one gap before you plan around the form: the footage that shows the awakening documents its requirement (Devil race + grimoire) and its results, but never shows the specific input or menu that turns it on. Once you have both pieces, check your character's loadout and controls in-game for the activation.
Shortcut: transferring a grimoire from an alt
Grimoires can be dropped to other players, and one creator used that to skip the tower: he made about six alt accounts, rolled Anti-Magic on the sixth, and dropped the grimoire to his main. Two caveats — even with the grimoire in hand, the receiving account still needed the Devil race to use the awakening, and this is a single pre-release report, so it's not confirmed the drop route works as intended at live launch.
Common blockers
- Stats in Strength instead of Power. The most common mistake in the footage; Anti-Magic unlocks key off Power.
- Dry on crystal mana. Keep the loop going: Haj Bandits for potatoes, fragments from map spawns, craft at the Hage Village table, and claim playtime rewards.
- Rolling races with no banked spins. Devil is a 0.12% roll; stack playtime reward spins first.
- Expecting the outfit from a shop. It appears alongside early Anti-Magic leveling in the footage, with no stated source.
With the grimoire, the Power unlocks, and the Devil race lined up, the one thing left is the awakening itself — our Clover Time awakenings guide picks up the awakening system from there.
