Clover Time Anti-Magic Guide: How to Get It, Moves & Awakening
Learn what Anti-Magic provides and how it progresses in Clover Time: tower rolls, Power-stat move unlocks, the Devil-race Awakening, and its chest-puzzle skip.
Anti-Magic is the rarest-tier Grimoire you can roll in Clover Time, and it plays unlike any magic book: instead of casting spells, your character fights with the signature anti-magic sword. The official feature list sells both halves of the build — "Roll & Master Grimoires (Anti-Magic, Lightning, Flame & more!)" and, listed separately, "Awaken Anti-Magic."
The progression loop runs in three stages: roll Anti-Magic at the Grimoire tower, unlock its base sword moves by spending stat points in Power, then — with the Devil race — trigger an Awakening that transforms your character and swaps in a stronger moveset. Anti-Magic holders also get one perk nobody else has: skipping map-chest puzzles by simply attacking the chest. This guide covers every stage.
What Anti-Magic does
Grimoires matter because they "can completely change the abilities available to your character." Equip Anti-Magic and two things change immediately:
- Your meter relabels. The magic bar no longer reads "magic" — it reads "anti-magic," and that meter is what the Awakening burns through.
- You draw the sword. On foot it attacks very fast, and on a broom the sword state carries its own Shift boost that one creator clocked as noticeably quicker still.
Everything else in this build grows from those two facts: a sword kit that scales with Power, and a meter that fuels the transformation.
How to get Anti-Magic
- Find the gacha. Open your compass and follow the tower icon — that's the Grimoire tower, and the gacha sits there.
- Roll. Spins are what you spend on Grimoire rolls, and mana crystals fuel them (one creator spent a crystal per spin). A new roll is how you chase a rarer book instead of settling for a starter one.
- Recognize the result. The roll animation shows Anti-Magic arriving as a Mythic-tier book, and once equipped the HUD switch to "anti-magic" confirms it.
- Equip it. The sword kit is live from level 1 — no quest or level gate sits between the drop and your first swing.
Anti-Magic sits at the top of the roll table. A written guide calls it "one of the rarest obtainable Grimoires shown in the gameplay," one launch video's roll table listed it at roughly 1 in 179, and a tower walkthrough shows a pity system — 175 rolls for Mythic, with Legendary at 70 and Epic at 35. None of these numbers are official; they're creator-reported, so recheck them after balance or progression changes. Luck clearly varies too — another creator pulled a top-tier Grimoire in about 15 spins.
Mind your inventory while chasing it: you can equip one Grimoire and keep one in your bag — two total. Rolling a third forces you to discard one of the two, although one creator carries duplicates via a Robux bag that holds two copies of each.
If you're short on rolls, active codes and playtime rewards are the usual top-up — the Clover Time codes page keeps the current list, and the how to get a Grimoire guide walks the rolling loop in full.
Base moveset and how moves unlock
Anti-Magic damage scales off Power, not Strength. One creator learned this the hard way: he assumed the sword scaled like Strength-based games, dumped his early points wrong, and delayed his second move unlock by several levels. Every level grants stat points — spend them in Power and new moves arrive:
| Move | How you get it / what it does |
|---|---|
| Anti-Magic Cut | Your first move, available from level 1 as soon as the Grimoire is equipped. |
| Rush Divider | Unlocks from stat points in Power; can hit multiple enemies. |
| Dual Spin | Arrives around level 20 via stat points; hold the button for a continuous attack. |
| Dash Divider | A lunge that dashes you into an enemy. |
| Counter | Answers an incoming hit, shown in the Anti-Magic showcase. |
| Double Cut | A two-sword swing seen in boss-fight walkthroughs. |
One honest caveat on the base kit: it doesn't have a huge amount of AoE, and one written guide judges it "may not be the absolute best option for grinding in its base form" — a single assessment that may shift with balance updates. That's why experienced players say to judge Anti-Magic by its Awakening, not by the moves it starts with.
The Awakening: Devil race requirement and awakened moves
< Figure removed — see note below >
The documented prerequisite for the Awakening is the Devil race. Multiple creators state it outright — "requires devil race," "I actually need the devil race to use the awakening," and one who rolled the Devil Clan noted it "gives us a lot of what we need" for the Anti-Magic transformation. Every demonstrated use ties the requirement to the Awakening itself; nothing in the sources says you need Devil to equip or fight with base Anti-Magic. Devil is itself a rare roll — one creator's race screen listed it at about 0.12%, and another player planned an entire alt account just to move his Anti-Magic over. Our Clover Time races guide covers the race system.
Triggering the Awakening plays a cutscene unique to Anti-Magic, then transforms your character: the shirt comes off and wings and a tail appear — a look creators call faithful to the anime's devil form. The replacement moveset is the payoff:
| Move | Key | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Black Divider | E | Fierce demonic dash-slash; it stacks when reused. |
| Flight dash | Z | You fly up and dash to a point you aim at. |
| Tornado slash | X | A tornado lifts enemies, ends in a slash, and extends the sword. |
| Long dash | R | Long-range dash ending in a heavy slash — it whiffs unless you actually hit something. |
| Grand Slicer | — | Long aimed slash, named in two showcases. |
| Demonic Persecution | — | Knockback-style attack. |
| Demonic Advance | — | Another knockback move, showcased at 265 Power. |
| Ultimate | V | Sword-strike finisher. |
Two practical caveats: these names are transcribed from creator commentary and may differ slightly from in-game labels, and the keybinds come from two PC showcases (one of which shows an additional unnamed move on C), so expect some platform variation. One creator saved the transformation for the level-100 Magna quest and opened with Black Divider — a good picture of where the Awakening earns its keep. Awakenings exist across the roster; our Clover Time awakenings guide covers the wider system.
One more warning: the transformation drains the anti-magic meter "like water." One creator's form expired mid-fight before he could land his ultimate, forcing him to wait for a recharge; a second watched the meter burn fast just broom-flying with Anti-Magic equipped, even faster when boosting. These are single-session observations rather than exact rates, but the takeaway is consistent — budget the meter.

Skip map-chest puzzles by attacking the chest
Anti-Magic also pays off outside combat. Bosses can drop maps — the stronger the boss, the better the map, from rare to legendary. Using a map reveals coordinates; follow them to a chest guarded by monsters. Defeat the guards to drop the barrier, and a timed puzzle starts: collecting key fragments around the chest, drawing a line correctly, or using your broom to activate orbs before the timer — and a timeout resets the whole thing.
Most players craft a blacksmith item to skip that puzzle. Anti-Magic holders don't need to: simply attack the chest and you skip straight past it. Our Clover Time chests guide has the full chest breakdown.
Practical Anti-Magic usage notes
- Plan around the Awakening. The base kit is serviceable, but the transformed moveset is what the Grimoire is rolled for.
- Put stat points in Power, never Strength. It's the mistake that costs new Anti-Magic players their early move unlocks.
- Secure the Devil race before you commit. Without it, the Awakening stays locked; one creator pairs Devil with the Sovereign social class and the Chosen One trait as his ideal setup — a single player's recommendation, not an official one.
- Budget the meter for boss fights. Transform close to the fight, not at the start of a long flight.
- Fly smart. The sword's broom boost is fast, but boosting burns the meter — the broom guide covers flight in detail.
Roll it, feed Power, grab Devil, Awaken, and farm map chests the cheap way — that's the whole Anti-Magic arc. To see how it compares with the other books on the roll table, continue to our Clover Time grimoires guide.
